The Sultana Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching students of all ages about the history and environment of the Chesapeake Bay.  The organization has a full-time staff of seven and a seasonal program staff (March – November) of up to 16.   The Sultana Education Foundation prides itself on providing a challenging, fun, and rewarding work environment where employees have an opportunity to grow and develop their professional skills.  Current job listings are posted below and opportunities are always available to volunteer.

Paddling Programs (Summer Counselors: 4 openings)

Sultana Education Foundation is currently seeking four qualified individuals to work as counselors for our 2018 Summer Programs. Successful applicants will work closely with the Director of Paddling Programs, Assistant Director, and other counselors to help guide campers during 8 weeks of Day and Overnight Programs for ages 7-18. Using kayaks and canoes, these programs take place on tidal tributaries of Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Responsibilities for these positions include assisting with trip planning and logistical troubleshooting, teaching basic paddling skills, setting up/breaking down camping equipment, meal preparation, leading evening activities and land-based games, loading and unloading paddling gear, and co-leading daily paddles with students. Applicants should have significant paddling expertise and experience working with children. Familiarity with the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem is a plus. CPR and First Aid are required; lifeguarding certification is preferred. This position begins June 18, 2018 and runs through August 17, 2018.
