This is a three-part class that will meet on consecutive Wednesdays in October from 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Participants will learn about the Chesapeake Bay’s fascinating geological history, conduct tests to monitor water quality, meet some of the estuary’s live critters, and discuss recent trends in water quality, fisheries, and submerged grass bed abundance. Participants are expected to attend all three classes.
Chris Cerino is the Vice President of Sultana Education Foundation. He has been teaching about the history, culture, and ecology of the Chesapeake Bay for over 30 years, working with tens of thousands of students ranging in age from Kindergarten to senior citizens. Mr. Cerino has a Masters of Teaching degree from the University of Virginia and has lived in Kent County since 1992. When not teaching children and adults, he is a self proclaimed “river rat”, spending free time cruising the Chesapeake and its tidal tributaries on a 17′ Boston Whaler, fishing, crabbing, and exploring shoreline habitats for arrowheads and antique bottles.
