Operations & Events

Operations and Events Volunteers assist with the ongoing administration of the Sultana Education Foundation as well as special events held at the Foundation’s new Education Center in Chestertown. Administrative responsibilities generally include staffing the Foundation’s reception desk, giving tours of the Education Center, and assisting with various administrative duties.   Special events responsibilities include assisting with “First Friday” open-houses, evening lectures, and other community events.   While no previous experience is required, we do welcome volunteers who have administrative experience, are comfortable talking to visitors, and are generally game to help with what is going on that day.

2017 Training Dates

Volunteers must participate in a mandatory training session prior to beginning work as a volunteer.   Dates for 2017 include:

April 12 / 2:30-4:00pm
September 6 / 2:30-4:00pm         

Training sessions take place in Sultana’s Education Center located at 200 South Cross Street in Chestertown.                                 

Additional Information

Minimum Time Requirement: On average Volunteers are expected to commit to serving for two 3-hour periods (morning/afternoon/evening) per month.

Initial Fees: There are no initial fees for this program. Volunteers may elect to purchase a volunteer t-shirt or jacket.

Application to the Program: If you are interested in serving as an Operations and Events Volunteer, you are encouraged to fill out a Volunteer Application.   Once your application is received, your name will be added to a list of future prospective volunteers. Interviews for new volunteers are conducted on an ongoing basis.
