Public Paddles

Join Sultana Education Foundation’s staff naturalists for one (or more!) of our unique kayak paddles on Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore.   Kayaks for these trips are provided so all you need to bring is water, a snack, and your binoculars!

BLUE HERON PADDLE

Saturday, May 5/ 10-12:30pm

Venture to the headwaters of the Sassafras and some of the best Blue Heron habitat on the Bay.

 

 

BALD EAGLE

Saturday, May 12 / 10:00-12:30pm

We’ve got a “secret” spot off the Sassafras River where (with a little luck) we will see plenty of Bald Eagles.

UPPER CHESTER RIVER

Saturday, May 19 / 10:00am-12:30

Join us for a paddle on the fresh water reaches of the upper Chester River, departing from an old landing where watermen used to harvest the robust herring runs that once populated the river every spring

SALT MARSH PADDLE

Come explore the pristine salt marshes and tidal creeks of Eastern Neck Island Wildlife Refuge, one of the best spots for bird watching in the mid-Atlantic region.

When the sun goes down and the moon comes out, the river is transformed. Join us for this unique opportunity to explore the Chester in “a whole new light”.

 

MILLPOND EXPEDITION PADDLE

Originally formed by an old millpond dam, Unicorn Lake has become one of the most popular fishing and paddling spots in the upper Chester River watershed.
